Over 53 years of being within the City of Burnaby area, the George Derby Centre has supported the needs of the Federal Government; the Regional needs of qualified Veterans; Provincial needs for beds and services; Lower Mainland Communities; and, more recently the Fraser Health needs. The Centre has a place in history particularly of vital importance to people in need of care and supports. Through those many years the Centre provided innovative services and programs.
In May 1988 the present centre opened as a 300 bed licensed intermediate care facility. George Derby Centre was accredited by Accreditation Canada for 2011-2019, establishing George Derby Centre as a facility exceeding national standards of quality in the provision of health services.
